The BME Pain Olympics is a series of promotional shock videos released by BME, short for Body Modification E-zine, beginning in 2002. BME is a website created by Canadian blogger Shannon Larratt in 1994, that is dedicated to covering extreme body modifications and erotic body play. These videos consist of genital mutilation contests, showing different people drastically mutilating, burning, electrocuting, and dilating each other's genitals painfully, hence the name "Pain Olympics".

The creator was born on September 29, 1973, and died on March 15, 2013, in Toronto, Canada.

It was later confirmed by Larratt that the first instalment was faked, but all the other sequels are 100% real. The promotional sequels were linked on Shannon's blog and can be downloaded and viewed off the blog's video section alongside other videos of extreme body modification. Shannon Larratt died from a rare muscular disease on March 15, 2013, aged 39.[1][2]

BME Pain Olympics

BME Pain Olympics Final Round is a shock video shot on a VHS camcorder, showing two men (actually the same person) graphically mutilating their genitals, with one man cutting off his penis with a meat cleaver and another man cutting and slicing open his genitals. The song playing in the background in the video is Livin' Like A Zombie by Christian death metal band Mortification.

On January 22, 2012, Shannon Larratt responded to a request from the AMA that was aimed at speaking to contestants to confirm that the video was a hoax. However, she claimed that the associated BMEvideo trailers were "entirely real and possibly contain more extreme footage".

BMEvideo VHS Trailer (1997)

The first trailer of BME's promotional videos. It can only be seen on the old BME video website or from its original VHS tape. The video starts with a text that says "Things you never thought possible" to quickly switch between the BMEzine logo and the letters BME in red colour, after that, it shows images of open penises, a sewn vagina, a pierced clitoris, multiple images of gaping and pierced tongues, a penis stabbed with syringe needles, a clip of a man sticking his balls into a table, a pierced uvula, and a man holding a severed pair of testicles. The music that is heard during the images is Pnoom (Moon up mix) by the German experimental rock band Can.

BMEvideo Trailer 1 (2005)

BMEvideo Trailer 1 (sometimes mislabeled as BME Pain Olympics 3) was one of four authentic cock and ball torture videos labelled as BME Pain Olympics. These videos were made to promote the BMEVideo website (which has now been merged into the main BME website) and feature excerpts from videos that were uploaded to the site. The videos also had the notoriety of playing music over the haunting clips.

The video shows a man stretching his anus (synchronized with the opening voice) to open it, a man pushing a long spike through his gut, a man showing off and masturbating an enlarged, silicone-injected penis (an object that looks like a pickle or cucumber can be seen inside the meatus), ants crawling and biting into a man's genitals, a clip removing meat stapled from a man's arm, a man inflating and deflating his foreskin, a man hitting his penis with a hammer, a man being lifted off the ground by his scrotum, an old man pushing a butter knife up his urethra, a man pulling a nail out of his urethra, a man shoving AA batteries into his urethra, a man stapling his foreskin with a stapler, a closeup shot of enlarged and swollen nipples, a man inhaling a cigarette out on his penis, a man cracking his urethra with a soldering iron, a man rubbing his genitals against a cactus and a penis with an earring ejaculating. The music playing in the video this time was the first two tracks (04/01/05 and 04/02/05) from the experimental rock album Suspended Animation by supergroup Fantômas.

BMEvideo Trailer 2 (2005)

BMEvideo Trailer 2 is the second of Larratt's authentic videos. The video depicts acts that include anal prolapse, a guy beating his genitals with a hammer, a guy inserting blue plastic tubing down his urethra, a guy's anus stretched open with a speculum, nipple knifing, forceps being pushed into a guy's nipple, a mistress inserting needles in a guy's penis, trapped between a breadboard, with bloodplay, self-castration with a burdizzo, a guy shitting out a football and inserting a huge dildo up his anus, a mistress pushing needles down a guy's balls and a big spray of fluid comes out, a man inflating his penis, a mans inserting small fireworks in his urethra and lights them, and a pickaxe through a guy's testicles.

Some of the people in the video appear to be from the previous two videos, such as the man enlarging his genitalia (which has become even larger in the video and is seen out in the woods and on a beach masturbating). The song playing in this video is a 1968 psychedelic rock instrumental called "Crazy Circus" which was made by the group Les Maledictus Sound. The video can be found on PornHub and a download link on Shannon Larrat's blog zentastic.

BMEvideo Trailer 3 (2005)

BMEvideo Trailer 3 (also known as Spankwire) was the third and is often mistaken to be the last or even first of the BME promotional videos. The music playing in the video is a cover of Destiny's Child's Survivor which was recorded by the band Knockout for the album Punk Goes Pop. The nickname Spankwire comes from it being distributed on a porn website at the same time.

The video shows a man with a dildo between his testicles, a man lighting firecrackers in his urethra, a man ripping off the bottom of his penis with scissors, a man pushing his penis down a vacuum hose, wasps crawling on him. a man's open penis (presumably poking it), a woman's vagina being stretched by a homemade machine, a man cutting the skin of his penis and pushing up his testicle, BB balls coming out of a guy's urethra, a guy masturbating while his penis burns, a man cutting off the tip of his middle finger, a guy without genitals (but not graphically) in the bathtub, a tightly bound penis stabbed with fishhooks, a close-up of the head of an open penis, a mistress inserting needles into the testicles of a man (who looks like a sea urchin or Pokémon Weezing), a man with a flattened penis and a penis without a glans but with a foreskin. The video ends with the woman from earlier hanging from a tree, while a man circles around her making movements that seem absurd.

Some of the videos featured appear to have been recorded in the 1990s or early 2000s as they were shot on VHS camcorders.

BME Pain Olympics 4 (2006)

The latest and darkest trailer for BME was produced by Lalat. Many people think that this is the worst. The song played in the video is Estilo Do Ghetto by Brazilian rapper "BlackAlien" (BlackAlien). Initially, it was uploaded to Larratt's "MODBlog", but the video was not viewable. As mentioned above, this is a very rare discovery. Until recently it had no contact with its surface.

The video includes: A man pressing a lit cigarette into his testicles, a man using burdizzo to castrate himself, a man inserting a prince's wand into his urethra, a very quick nipple replacement shot, a man inserting a brush of teeth into his urethra, a man inserts a catheter into his urethra, a man uses a laser to remove a needle from the penis gland, a man marks his penis with a laser, a man marks his penis with a clip and inserts a string on the penis, when it was removed, a large amount of blood comes out of the penis, a man lifting 6 bottles with his scrotum, a man poured hot molten candle wax under his urethra and ejaculated several times and a penis inside a glass being electrocuted. The only link can be found on the Russian social networking site VK.

The term “Pain Olympics” is believed to have originated from the Body Modification Enzine (BME) community, a subculture of individuals who engage in extreme body modifications such as piercings, tattoos, scarification, and amputations. BME was founded in 1994 by Shannon Larratt, who also created the infamous video and the first “Pain Olympics” convention was held around 2002.

A few years later, Shannon Larratt shared a video online, also titled “Pain Olympics.”

The video itself depicts two men engaging in what can only be described as self-mutilation. It contains two entries, both mutilating their genitals. One of the men is shown performing this act of self harm using a knife, while the other is handling a hatchet. The footage is incredibly graphic and disturbing, and has been widely condemned by medical professionals and mental health experts.

Despite its controversial nature, “Pain Olympics” has become something of an internet legend. It has spawned countless parodies and imitations, as well as numerous urban legends about its origins and participants.

The original video featured a disclaimer at the end, stating that the depicted scenes are not real, instead they were replicated using professional tools. This, however, is often removed from the copies found online.

The phrase was also elevated to an idiomatic level online, with countless videos being shared on sites like YouTube and lately TikTok, depicting various stunts and pranks, resulting in pain, all titled “Pain Olympics.”
